San Juan Parangaricutiro Church

On February 20, 1943, a volcano suddenly rose from the ground at the Mexican state of Michoacan, and buried two villages in lava and ashes. Today, 64 years after the eruption, the only trace of the villages is the church tower of San Juan Parangaricutiro, a little building which stood above a sea of rugged lava.

Gadsby

Gadsby, by Ernest Vincent Wright, is a story that not only has over 50,000 words which neatly organize into 43 chapters, the entire story is written without one single instance of the letter E.

In his introduction, he teaches us:

"As the vowel E is used more than five times oftener than any other letter, this story was written, not through any attempt to attain literary merit, but due to a somewhat balky nature, caused by hearing it so constantly claimed that “it can’t be done; for you cannot say anything at all without using E, and make smooth continuity, with perfectly grammatical construction—” so ‘twas said."

Borat

I was browsing the internet today and ran across an article where artist Oli Goldsmith is creating 999 paintings of the character Borat for some reason or another. You can read all about it if you want by following this link.

Of course, all it did was remind me that I needed to add the fact that in the movie "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," he introduces his mother and states that at age 43 she is the oldest woman in Kazakhstan. Makes it a 5 star movie in my eyes.

I have also been for the exact quote, but have yet to find it. Oh well.
