43 Delaware

My family gets together each April or May to celebrate my grandfather's birthday and have a family reunion. We always go to the same lake. Back in the day, each cabin was named after a state, thus the old "Delaware" on the side of the cabin. Now, they all have numbers. I found cabin 43 and wanted to take a picture of it.

I am standing there with my cameraphone, very close to the window and door, when the people who had rented that particular cabin drive up and catch me. What do you say? "Hi, I have this incredible obsession with the number 43." They'd think I was crazy (not that everyone reading this blog doesn't suspect something similar, but that is another story). So I told them that I was from Delaware. They bought it.

So I'm not really a Nascar fan, but I have a good friend who is. Since 43 is a popular number in Nascar, I tend to cheer for the 43 car, regardless of the driver, whenever I hang out with Kim. Last year, the driver was a bit disappointing, but things have changed.

This year, the 43 car is driven by Bobby Labonte and is sponsored by Cheerios. Kim made me watch the first 80 or so laps of the Richmond Crown Royal race on Saturday. So, I figured that today I would check on Mr. Labonte's standings and post them for all my Nascar loving friends, even though Kim doesn't use the internet, and I think she might be my only Nascar loving friend.

Anyway, Labonte came in 24th (unofficially at this point) and won $104,761. In the overall standings, Labonte is currently 27th. You can look at his full stats here: But for some reason, I doubt that you will.

43 Commercials

There has been a recent onslaught of commercials featuring the number 43. MTV's G-Spot has a "next number" box that occassionally shows up as 43, there is a car commercial that starts with a 43 showing on the clock or some other fancy electronic; there are others. I was trying to find the car commercial today to post here. Googled "43 commercials" and found a Studio in Belgium that did commercial productions, Studio 43, but alas haven't been able to find the car yet.

I will keep looking. I can't even remember the type of the car though. Might be a hard search.
